Hop On Hop Off Bus in Florence – The Way to Go
We are not fans of guided tours. However, we are big fans of the red double-decker Hop On Hop Off buses, especially when going to a new city. There is no better way (and cheaper usually) to see the highlights of a city and get the lay of the land. It is usually the first thing we do. We spot places we want to spend more time and then plan our remaining days accordingly.
Not Stuck on a Tour Bus
The great thing about these buses is that you can get off at any stop and get back on at any stop. You are not stuck on an hours-long tour that you can’t escape from. Go for an hour or for all day – entirely up to you. Earphones are provided with commentary about the city and points of interest as you pass by. The commentary is in several languages so just pick your channel and you’re ready to go.
Firenze is One of the Better Routes
Firenze (Florence) has two great options for traveling around the city on these buses – the blue line and the red line. One is a one hour route around the interior of the city and the other is a two hour trip that goes to outer regions of the city, including Fiesole in the mountains, as well as the interior more popular areas. You will be given a map that contains both and you can choose which to take. They are both included in the price you pay. We used Get Your Guide for ordering our tickets. You can get a 1, 2, or 3-day ticket.
